About GetWhiteScreen

GetWhiteScreen fills your screen with one solid colour. That is the whole product. The reason it is more than a button is the notes attached to each tool, which are the part worth reading.

Who runs it

Built and maintained by Mor, a web developer. One person, no company behind it.

Why the notes exist

Most pages like this tell you to show a white field and look for problems, then stop. That leaves out everything that decides whether your result means anything.

Your phone dims a white field within seconds of showing it. A camera exaggerates backlight bleed badly enough that people return working monitors over photographs. IPS glow looks exactly like a defect and is not one. Pressing on a stuck pixel is far more likely to ruin the panel than fix it. None of that is on the pages that rank for these searches, and all of it changes what you should do next.

That is what the field notes are. Everything else here is scaffolding around them.

What the tools actually do

Render a colour across the viewport, and request native fullscreen where the browser supports it. On iPhone there is no fullscreen API for web pages, so the colour fills the page and Safari's bars stay. The field is identical either way, which is all that matters for the tests.

Nothing is uploaded, nothing runs on a server, no image of your screen is captured.

Changelog

  • 2026-08-04 Rewrote the white screen test after realising the site was repeating the standard "use white to find dust" advice, which is wrong. Dust shows on black, smears show on white.
  • 2026-08-04 Fixed fullscreen on iPhone. It had never worked: Safari has no fullscreen API for web pages, so the button did nothing at all on iOS.
  • 2026-08-04 Added the burn-in, backlight bleed, stuck pixel, and light box tools, and the field notes on each.

Corrections

Displays vary, and some of these notes will be wrong for some panels. If yours behaves differently, tell me on the contact page and include the model. Corrections that hold up get published and dated above.
